it would suggest if a bus stopped at pease bay leisure park on the way to berwick upon tweed
Thanks for contacting us, we will see what we can do about this. I will welcome you join RELBUS (Rural East Lothian Bus Users groups).
RELBUS organizing publing meeting in Haddington on Wednesday, 31 August 2011 at 7pm in Council Chambers Haddington Town House
i hear the first bus 253 is getting withdrawn in october in feel the every hour service to berwick upon tweed via cockburnspath, reston, eyemouth should stay all year round
Yes you are right I hear about this as well, that First bus taking off 253 service on Edinburgh and Berwick Upon Tweed route. We will try to raise this issue on our next Public meeting at Haddington on 31 August.
i think there has to be a hourly bus that stops at cockburnspath for people going towards dunbar or berwick upon tweed
i would suggest because the first 253 is getting withdrawn a bus could even go from berwick upon tweed to dunbar via burnmouth, eyemouth, coldingham, reston, cockburnspath, innerwick
I believe that the First Bus 253 was only on for the summer which is why it’s coming off in a few weeks’ time.
i now see that first has confirmed the date for the withdrawal of the service 253 as the 1st october . but i think a bus company should have a bus service from dunbar to berwick via the borders
first is saying that they may keep the service 253 on if more people use the buses by the end of the month
It was good to hear that people travelling from Edin. to Berwick would have an hourly service (First Bus) but, sadly, this is supposedly ceasing at the end of September, 2011. Previously, with Perrymans, the first time anyone living north of Coldingham could arrive in Berwick was 12.22 with the last service from Berwick being at the very early time of 15.55 hrs. There seems to be a good bus service between Edinburgh and Dunbar and then again between Berwick and Coldingham but it is the 20 mile or so distance between Dunbar and Coldingham which has to rely on a poor service. As a frequent bus user, I do realise that sometimes First Bus travelled with only a few passangers but at other times, it was busy. It would be an idea if Perrymans could provide one or two earlier/later buses running only from Berwick to Dunbar and vice versa taking in Ayton en route.
it would say maybe a meeting with perrymans should be arranged
It would be an idea to contact Perrymans to ask if they would be willing to consider
a local service Berwick to Dunbar (perhaps at first on a two month trial period), which would go via Ayton, Reston, (missing out Coldingham which has Berwick to Coldingham services), Grantshouse, Cockburnspath, Innerwick,Asda, Dunbar) – suggested times might be leaving Berwick 08.00 hrs. with return trip from Dunbar at approx. 09.00 hrs., perhaps a similar afternoon service and one later leaving Berwick at 17.30 hrs. or thereabouts returning from Dunbar around 18.30. I feel, at present with Perrymans, the first bus to Berwick in the morning is too late and the last one returning from Berwick is too early.
i have emailed perrymans so hopefully they will do something
RELBUS group arrange meeting with Mr Perryman’s. To find out the possibility to increase Perryman’s 253 service. We welcome any suggestion related to 253 Perryman’s route and the their concern will be raised in the meeting.
i suggest that there need to be a bus that stops at dunbar at 09:10 going to berwick stopping at innerwick , cockburnspath, grantshouse, reston, coldingham, eyemouth, berwick upon tweed or stopping at innerwick, cockburnspath, grantshouse, reston, ayton, berwick upon tweed i would say there also has to be a bus that can get into to dunbar from berwick at about 10:10 but stopping at the even reston, grantshouse, cockbuurnspath, innerwick, dunbar
I would like the points I have raised/suggested previously to be brought up at the
meeting. When First Bus started running on the Edinburgh-Berwick and return route, I think people, generally, were unaware that these buses were indeed running and it was often by word of mouth that a few more people started to use the buses. I have written to First Bus pointing out that I think more publicity should have been given to the timetables of their buses by, perhaps, putting an ad. in East Lothian Courier and Berwickshire News – I received a reply stating that my email had been forwarded to the Directors to look over for future use. If Perrymans do agree to putting on a Berwick to Dunbar service and return, then I hope they would publicize this as much as possible.
A Currie’s point is a good one. Bus services are never properly advertised. I feel that the council should make it a condition of any financial support that adverts are displayed and notices put in the paper detailing the service. LRT in Edinburgh do a fantastic job using all that space on the sides of their buses to show the route and destination.
could you put the following suggestions to the meeting with perrymans about the 253
there needs to be earlier buses to berwick and there needs to be a bus that can arrive into dunbar by about 10:10
there has to be more buses from dunbar to berwick and we need them as soon as possible
could i suggest to perrymans buses that they could have the additional 253;s only stopping at innerwick cockburnspath coldingham eyemouth and berwick so the bus would get into berwick quicker
has the first 253 been withdrawn as the timetable is still on the first group website
